The Spirit of our Area, in three simple phrases.
The history of my winery began in 1993, the year when we replanted a small sangiovese vineyard.
Because everything I have now started with reorganising the farm purchased by my father in the 1950s and on which he had spent his entire life as a farmer.
To him I deeply grateful. For he worked these fields in years when most of his fellow farmers were abandoning theirs, for he gave me the possibility of growing up in this world of wonderful solidity and of nurturing within myself that passion for our land and its vines.
I spent my first ten years as grapegrower trying to absorb as much as I could from my father and from the older generations around me; at the same time I studied and experimented a host of modest techniques unheard of at that time.
Those years of experience have remained with me and have helped me along the road I chose.

The projects
My wine estate today comprises 10 hectares of vineyard, almost all completely re-planted.
I have maintained some small plots exactly as they were, as valuable nursery-sources for ongoing projects.
I made a fundamental decision in recent years to concentrate my efforts almost exclusively on our native grape varieties. I carried out a series of massal selections and cloning within the confines of the estate, with the purpose of isolating ancient Sangiovese clones that had always been present historically in San Miniato, as well as other either unknown or almost extinct varieties.

From these trials emerged my most distinctive wine so far, a blend of different sangiovese clones.
Merlot is the only international variety on the estate, and is blended with sangiovese to produce my standard wine.
Vineyards newly planted in the last few years will complete my plan of introducing into current blends important native varieties such as the ciliegiolo and the malvasia nera.
